Writing One:
‘I sentence David Mahood to 8 years o imprisonment.’
As the hammer slammed against the stand David stares into the judges eyes, dazed and confused. His stare burns into the plump judge named …………… Glancing across the room. His attention is drawn to a middle aged Bangladesh woman standing in the other defendant box, he knows he has made the right decision. The woman ……. Sobs hysterically into her palms, for a brief moment her face is exposed as a blotchy mess. Under inspection the skin covering her face and neck appear like leather stretched over too much surface, cruel to say resembling an alien. Her face told of things that she herself would never say. It clearly showed hours of work under the knife to mask something that happened in her past.

Hardeep Mamood has clearly known pain first hand, a complete extravert through and through. She is a quite woman who has clearly known pain in her life. She wears it like an obvious glove, un-mistakably damaged mentally and physically. The first thing I notice about her was not her mangled skin, but surprisingly her eyes. They tell stories of tragedy with no need for words. Pure unedited emotion. Undergoing hours of painstaking operations to try and bring back some of her features. Shy and timed with a stretched leather face, I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like to cope with such a massive, dramatic change in life. Hardeep is constantly stopped in the street by children starring, comments by rude aregent people, bullied by strangers. I am determined to find justice for her, a kind compassionate woman, abused and mutilated for no apparent reason to me. I cannot change her condition, but I will put the person to blame behind bars for good. No one deserves this.
.....
Hardeep Mamood, before an average happy woman. Healthy youthful face, natural complexion with flowing hair, far from perfect, but beautiful all the same. After, she is not a mutilated bruised woman, dried out leather skin left to burn for too long, inconsistency in complexion. Her face covers with different tones. Her eyes pop against her alien appearance. This experience has clearly scared her soul, creating a timid, shy, scared lad.
.....
Hardeep’s Statement:
It was January 23rd 2010. David and I were at our home. I was in the kitchen chopping up the vegetables.
